Challenge 9: Winter Ficlet Challenge! Twelve winter themed prompts, 30 days to write them. Fics can be any length, from 221bs all the way to thousands of words each and can focus on any characters. You may write them in any order you chose and they do not have to be connected in anyway. The ultimate goal is to create twelve short stories to ring in the New Year and series 3.
While the spirit of the challenge is for each author to do all 12 prompts, we understand that this time of year is hectic and that may not be possible. Feel free to do all or just a few of them. Your prompts are:
1. Snowed In
2. Gift Giving
3. Meeting the Family
4. Winter Sports
5. Awkward Holiday Party
6. Holidaying Somewhere Warm
7. Overindulgence
8. Taking a Tumble
9. Lazying About
10. The Competitive Spirit
11. Muuuurder
12. Wild Card: Author’s Choice!
As before, there are very few restrictions on what you can submit for this challenge, but here are some Guidelines (below the read more):
1. Fics can be of any style, genre, or rating. Any pairing is welcome; no pairing at all is also totally fine.
2. All fic should be posted while Challenge 9 is running—December 17th through January 17th— and should be written specifically for the challenge.
3. In order to be considered part of the collection of this challenge, your fic should be posted by midnight (your timezone) on January 17th.
4. Post your fic wherever you like, and then make a post to your own Tumblr blog with the following information. If you do not have a Tumblr account, send us an ask with the information below and we will create a post for you. Please use the headers shown below when making your post on tumblr:
Title:
Author:
Prompt:
Summary:
Rating: (G, T, M, E— rating should be for the entire fic, not just the first chapter)
Pairing: (if any)
Genre: (romance, angst, horror, alternate universe, etc.)
Length:
Warnings: (warn for any possible triggers; if none, just put “none”.)
Author Notes: (optional)
Links: (If you have your fic posted in multiple places, feel free to link them here.)
Then tag your post with “letswritesherlock”, “challenge 9”, and your author name, and post it to your own blog. We will track the letswritesherlock tag and will queue your posts to reblog here.
5. If you prefer, you can post your fic to your Tumblr under a Read More cut. (PLEASE put all of the text of the fic under a read more.)
6. If you post your fic to AO3, you can also add your fic to the corresponding collection. When you post your fic, in the space next to “Post to collections/challenges”, type in “challenge” followed by the number you are writing for (example: “Challenge04” or “Challenge05”) and wait a moment for our challenge to be found (which will say “Let’s Write Sherlock”). If you have already posted your fic, click “edit” on the fic on your dashboard and then scroll down to change this setting. The collection for challenge 9 is here.
7. Be creative! Have fun! And feel free to submit as many fics as you like. The more, the merrier! Also, please also read and comment on the fics of other participants. We all love getting kudos and comments, so please be generous with your fandom love. 🙂
8. Still have questions? Please ASK!
