I said I was gonna make this a post a million years ago, so here’s a post about why I think demisexual!Sam is a thing. Come with me on this journey of my poor attempts at meta (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧*
So, you’re probably thinking’, “what is demisexuality?” Here is a consolidated definition:
Demisexual: is a person who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a strong emotional connection with someone. The term demisexual comes from the orientation being “halfway between” sexual and asexual. Nevertheless, this term does not mean that demisexuals have an incomplete or half-sexuality, nor does it mean that sexual attraction without emotional connection is required for a complete sexuality. Demisexuals are not choosing to abstain; they simply lack sexual attraction until a close relationship is formed.
Alright, bear with me here.
Sam Winchester is a person who isn’t really concerned about the sexual aspects of a relationship. He is a person who is always getting on Dean about the blatant objectification and how much Dean places sex in a relationship at a high place. This is not to say that Sam thinks Dean should be celibate, or should abstain, as Sam is a person who values the relationship over the sexual part. He doesn’t seem too comfortable with valuing a person in bed over their actual feelings.
Through the demisexual identity, it is not about repressing sexual desires or being abstinent. It’s about emotions, it’s about attraction, it’s about having a bond with someone before the desire of sexual activity happens. Having sex with someone isn’t high on their list of things to, almost unimportant in regards to who that person it
Sam is very much interested in the person, who they are, and sex doesn’t come later until after he’s achieved that level.
