In which John surprises Sherlock with his badassery.
Last two GIFs you can watch Sherlock’s brain melt. Down, boy.
I love it when Sherlock has those private little hot flashes.
Actually, I read this completey differently.
To me, Sherlock’s face in the last gif says guilt: he didn’t realise John’s danger addiction would veer so dangerously out of control in only one month. It’s kind of like opening someone’s top drawer expecting to find a joint, and finding it full of needles instead. John’s just as addicted to solving cases as Sherlock is…it’s just easy not to notice that, because John’s so much better at presenting a “normal” face to the world.
So to me, that last gif is Sherlock realising that while he was off playing the addict (sort of) to dupe Magnusson – and probably subconsciously punishing John at least a little bit for “abandoning” him by getting married – John was quietly getting more and more desperate for a fix. “Shit…it’s that bad? I didn’t realise. I left him alone too long. My fault.”
It’s a brave and intriguing thing Mofftiss are exploring with this version of Sherlock and John: they both keep each another’s addictions in check. (Not just one-sidedly as in the canon, where Watson occasionally nagged Holmes about his drug use.) I only hope they’re more skillful and consistent at handling it than they have been with John’s PTSD.
Uf, Q, that bolded bit. Yes.
