Rewatching HLV this morning, and this moment struck me. Sherlock just boarded a plane, never to return. Presumably, someone told Mrs. Hudson that he won’t be needing the flat anymore. Yet, here she is, hoovering it like it’s any old day. Look at the place. It’s still a mess. She hasn’t boxed up his things, like she did after the fall. Whatever sparked the Moriarty message, I’m sure that Hudders wasn’t in on the conspiracy. Someone told her that Sherlock would never be returning to 221B, and she shrugged and said, “oh no, dear, it’s Sherlock. I’m sure he’ll find a way out of this mess.” And she just tidies up a bit for when he comes back. Because Mrs. Hudson is the foreshadow queen.
