Gabriel grabbed Sam’s arm. “He’s dead, let’s move on.”
Sam tried to pull away, only to find that he might as well try to budge a planet.
“We promised we’d help him.”
“And we tried, Kiddo. We can’t help him now.”
Sam turned his head at the note of resignation in Gabriel’s voice. The angel met his eyes.
“We can still solve this case.” Sam’s voice was as steely as Gabriel’s grip.
After another moment of studying his eyes, Gabriel gave a short nod. “Okay.”
Sam smiled at him and this time Gabriel let go of his arm.
