This amazing woman drove forty-five minutes today to surprise Alexia in her Tauriel cosplay. We’ve been friends through a Facebook group of Houston cosplayers for a bit, and were planning to meet up for the first time at Comicpalooza in a couple of weeks. Then we figured out that I’m actually friends with her cousin, who lives just a minute up the road from me, and she decided that she just had to do something for Alexia one-on-one before the convention.
Most of you have been following me long enough to see what an impact Tauriel has had on my daughter, and so this was so exciting for me.The look on Alexia’s face when she first caught sight of her was pure starlight.
Sarah has actually volunteered to come to her birthday party dressed up as Tauriel the weekend after the convention as well now that she’s met her and fallen totally in love. I’m going to keep that a secret until she arrives though, just to see that look on her face again.
I have met so many amazing people through the cosplay community over the years, and I’d not trade it for the world. It is because of wonderful people like this that my little girl believes in princesses, elves, and super heroes, and seeing the magic in her eyes when things like this happen never ceases to amaze me.
I love my cosplay friends so much.
