Let’s Write Sherlock Challenge 21: Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century! Requested by a follower, challenge 21 involves envisioning the Sherlock characters in the future. Your fic does not have to literally take place in the 22nd century, but it should have elements of sci-fi. What’s the world like in a few hundred (or thousand) years? How do Sherlock and John factor into it? Is the future bright and amazing or is it dark and grim?
Still struggling? We’ve had some great examples of sci-fi recently, so here are some ideas:
1.) A bright and glorious future full of wonders (think 1950s sci-fi; Star Trek, Tomorrowland, solar punk)
2.) A future where people struggle to survive (anything post-apocalyptic or dystopian; Mad Max, Fallout, The Hunger Games, cyberpunk)
3.) The remnants of a once glorious empire, wasted away to nothing. Science and technology are seen as magic; blends elements of fantasy and sci-fi (think Gene Wolfe, if you are familiar with his books, or Warhammer 40k)
