What is it with Palpatine and his melodramatic chair swivels

Just remember: They had a whole hydraulic system for the chair swivel. That didn’t work. So Ian MacDiarmid had to turn the chair manually by paddling his feet like a duck.

I feel like this is a good time to talk about how Peter Cushing hated his costume boots. He HATED those things: they pinched his feet, and they were too small, so he only wore them in scenes where Tarkin’s feet would be visible. In all other shots, he would reportedly wear fuzzy slippers. Grand Moff Tarkin wears fuzzy slippers.
