honestly I love seeing non-American people freak out about the geography of our country

when we say that in America you can drive for 45 minutes and only get to the next walmart we aren’t kidding

It takes me an hour to go 11 miles on my commute into work.  And fun fact: it takes EIGHTEEN HOURS to drive through Texas going east to west. That’s one state.

I told my friend in English I was moving from New York to Texas. When I told her that was a 30 hour drive she could hardly believe it.

As someone who lives in Texas I can verify this. When I went to Seattle in January  I was flabbergasted that I could get from the airport to downtown in 20 minutes or so. I was like ‘how?” because I literally can’t get across town here in 20 minutes, let alone to the next town.

Also, I live around the middle of Texas and when I drove to Orlando, Florida a few years back, New Olreans was halfway. In other words leaving this state got me halfway to Florida which is the East Coast.
