big-finish-sketches:

Personal story time! First time I read the “you people and your quaint little categories” line somewhere on the internet, I thought it was the most pretentious thing I had ever heard. I pretty much vowed right there and then not to get into Torchwood, because the idea of a bisexual guy calling other orientations “quaint” just struck me as offensive as fuck.

Needless to say I did end up getting into Torchwood, and as it turned out I was so so so so wrong. Because —

What I thought the line would mean: Some bisexual nerd telling people that bisexuals are enlightened and everyone else is dumb.

What the line actually meant: An omnisexual guy from a future in which gender and orientation categories are incredibly blurred and eternal sexual freedom is the norm, stuck in 21st century Cardiff, working with a bunch of bisexual monster hunters including a woman who’s in love with a human popsicle and a man whose idea of a date involves slipping people mind-altering aphrodisiacs, faced with an alien who can literally hypnotise people into sex in order to steal their life forces via orgasm… being told that the odd part about Gwen being kissed by said alien is that she has a boyfriend

…Anyway I love Torchwood.
