that bit at the end of non-stop where all the major act one songs get reprised and the whole company does the thing where they stop singing their individual parts and harmonise on ‘history has its eyes on you’ with no music and then hamilton sings a reprise of my shot + alexander hamilton and it ends on him yelling “I AM NOT THROWING AWAY MY SHOT!” might be the most satisfying piece of theatre music to ever be written
okay but where is the lie
the very first time I listened to hamilton, when it got to this point I was in my car. I could kind of sense what was coming and I knew it was the Act 1 finale so I knew what they were going for
but then
when there were all the musical callbacks to all of Act 1
and then they all come in together
I legit teared up because I was emotional that there is such genius in the world.
not even exaggerating a little bit.
