Pokémon Go changed this boy with autism’s life
Whether you love it, hate it or are apathetic about it, Pokémon Go is changing lives. Like Ralphie Koppelman: a 6-year-old boy who has autism spectrum disorder and hyperlexia. Individuals on the autism spectrum and with hyperlexia struggle in social interactions. But now thanks to Pokémon Go, Ralphie was interacting with neighbors, friends and strangers. And he isn’t an anomaly.

This is such a wonderful story, one of so many good ones I’ve seen about Pokemon Go!
To be honest I’ve been thinking a lot about how this game is really giving us a glimpse into how technology could benefit people so extremely in terms of motivation. I’ve been walking around and doing more physical stuff than I have in ages- quite willingly! Just to catch Pokemon. Imagine if they found ways to use gaming and technology to educate us, not in those terrible ways they’ve done in the past, not in ways that are boring or bad, but really legitimately well done like this game. I can’t even imagine how cool the world would be if we had a game to help encourage all kinds of behaviors- and I know Apps have kind of touched on that lately, like it’s the beginning (because everyone would need help with different things) of a really cool potential future where we use games to improve our lives significantly, rather than just looking at them as just ‘having fun’ or relaxing or wasting time. They could be so much more than that!
