Both of John’s hands touched Sherlock’s.

So is this the canon “recording the sensation of John’s touch in his mind palace” moment that fanfics are always talking about?

He does the blinky blink like he does when John asks him to be his Best Man. He was probably recording the sensation of John’s touch. The details in this show are amazing.

imo, the blinking is a sign of him being momentarily overwhelmed.  In TSoT when John tells him that he is his best friend, there is a pretty prolonged example of this.

I should write a thing on my thoughts on how Sherlock categorises and ranks relationships one of these days, but to make a long story short, John telling Sherlock that he was his best friend, was tantamount to him telling Sherlock that he loves him most in the world (which is also said in the same scene, just in case that wasn’t 100% clear to the general audience, btw).  This completely derailed Sherlock’s brain for a little stretch.  He went completely non-verbal.

In the scene here, just the brush of John’s hands causes that little blink again.  There’s actually a bit of a prolonged segment where you see him register the touch, then the blink, then he takes a little breath, and calmly tents his hands together and presses them to his lips in his thinking pose.  This is when I think he actually probably committed that touch to memory, or started trying to process it, at least.

And this whole thing comes on the heels of John acting like an utter trash can to Sherlock the whole morning.  Like they’ve only lived together for a few weeks at this point, and John’s come back from the shops in a foul mood, Sherlock looks at him with the most fond look ever, and offers to let John use his credit card, and after John does and leaves (after griping at sherlock further) Sherlock smiles softly and fondly again.  Then John comes back, makes a passive-aggressive comment about Sherlock not helping with the shopping, and then comes over and snatches his laptop away.  Like all that trash John, and Sherlock is still going momentarily non-verbal from just the brush of the man’s hands against his.

That poor boy had it BAD from minute one!

i hate u all

I am not sure if I am the only one seeing it but he does the blinky thing again, when they hug
