– No really, just leave me. I’m an old man, Doctor. I’ve had my time.
– Well, exactly. Look at you. Not remotely important. But me?

That one, was the saddest and more interesting chapters of DW for me. Not because all the drama, but because of the intensity of what we’re seeing. The season’s end shows us a much more human Doctor. Not just the 900 year old Time Lord who’s more patient and content and wise and extraordinary intelligent, but the man he is, deep inside.

He’s a man showing fear, and anger, and pain because he’s afraid of death. he wants to live so desperately he’s almost about to put his happiness and desires before humanity. He’s so tired of losing people, of being alone, of never been able to keep no one. You can see it in his eyes. He loses his family. He loses his kind. He loses his old mates. Loses Rose.

And because of all of that, we cried with him.
