“What I love about these conventions: it’s just a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get together and celebrate elements of pop-culture that we all collectivly love. And, certainly, there are many things that I really enjoy, from science-fiction stuff, like Star Wars, Star Trek or great shows like ‘Doctor Who’. I met David Tennant today. Oh, yessssssss! It wasn’t for long because.. I was just standing there having a conversation when someone else came up and interrupted and decided to have a conversation and I’m like “Buddy, what are you doing? *shooing person away* We’re standing here talking.” Anyway, I think he’s extraordinary. I really do. I mean, I love what Matt Smith did, who’s also a very brilliant actor. But to me I love David Tennant because I think he really benefited, I mean obviously he is an extraordinary gifted actor but he also benefited from the wonderful writing of Russel B. Davies. And, y’know, that I think it was a particularly special and unique time for Dr. Who and I greatly enjoy seeing and watching it with my boys. Y’know, I have just great admiration and respect for all that sort of stuff. And then it’s just a wonderful opportunity for me to meet the fans. It’s like when, y’know, you do theater and you get a pretty immediate idea of, y’know, whether or what something you’ve done is appreciated or not. Or a joke is funny. And this is not often. So, y’know, you get into a situation like this, you get an opportunity to meet people, that you get the feed back if you are working in the mediums of film and television. So I really enjoy it and I enjoy the fun festive spirit of people dressing up and, y’know, expressing themselves. And it’s just so cool. And I love like going around the streets before and after and, y’know, you are walking down the block and you see some guy walking down the road with a light saber. It’s kind of cool. It’s surreal. And it’s just great that for these couple of days that you guys get to essentially do what we do.“ – Karl Urban (Wizard World Philadelphia 2015)
