My thoughts exactly
How are they going to justify going back to business as usual now?
When I lived in Williamsburg, a cop used to stand by the turnstiles and just pick people out to see if they had id and arrest them if they didn’t. My roommate at the time had to spend almost 48 hours in lock up because she didn’t have her driver’s license on her. She was released immediately as soon as she saw a judge because, of course, it is not a crime to not have id on your person. But it took almost two full days for her to see a judge to make that determination. I’m fairly certain that is what that beat does everyday. They round up a group of people that count towards the cop’s quota but will never be charged with anything (because they didn’t really do anything). It’s like catch and release fishing. Except some of the fish are black and they arbitrarily don’t always make it to the “release” part unscathed.
