We know that Ianto is lying when he says his dad is a tailor the first time. But do we ever know that he corrects himself for Jack?
It’s weird though, this scene. I’m not totally convinced Ianto believes himself when he says I could have helped. And Jack’s repsonse is obviously “no. stop it. don’t even go there” and then Ianto continues and the way he says “I tell you everything”. Is he…is he lying?! Is he as unconvinced of himself as he was before. Is this entire conversation shit Ianto think he’s supposed to say in order to get it out of the way?!

I think this whole scene is beautifully acted. It’s like Ianto is finally, finally sick of all the lies and half-truths between them. Jack has his secrets and distractions and Ianto has his secrets and lies. It looks like the weight is just burying him.
Lucky for him he’s about to get buried /shot
