I have a british question for you. This is probably a weird one. What’s the levels of cursing. Like, what’s a mild curse up to I can’t believe that word came out of your mouth. I know I was a shocked when the doctor said “damn”, but I think that’s not as bad over there? I’m curious and also….writing purposes?

Yeah, ‘damn’ is almost as tame as it gets. 

What people find acceptable and what people find offensive can be dependent on where you are. For example, I live in Scotland for the majority of the year and can testify to the fact that ‘cunt’ is not nearly as offensive here as it might be in England simply because it is used so often. Obviously it also depends on who you’re talking to. 

But here is, in my opinion, a list of tame to bad:

Damn
Bloody
Arse
Cock
Prick
Wanker
Bastard
Bugger
Piss
Dick
Bollocks
Bitch (Son of a bitch)
Shit
Fuck (Motherfucker is probably a step up from ‘fuck’)
Cunt

But really, it depends who you’re talking to. I often greet my friend as ‘Alright you cunt?’ so yeah.  

If you really want to get a strong reactions, variety is the key (See ‘The Thick of It’ for perfect example)
