Someday the true story may be told.
The final words in the Sherlock Holmes canon (in the order they were first presented in), by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Which, I think, says rather a lot.

“I stimulated him. He liked to think aloud in my presence. His remarks could hardly be said to be made to me–many of them would have been as appropriately addressed to his bedstead–”
not to make my 1192318th acd canon is gay post, but no matter how many times i read this I still genuinely don’t know of any other way to interpret Watson saying “he wasn’t really talking to me, he could have been talking to – say – the bed frame” LIKE !! if Holmes spoke aloud to him, wouldn’t Watson, i dont know, reference furniture from the room it happened in which is . this is at the very least the implication that they were hanging out in Holmes’ bedroom together . specifically. the bed . where. Watson. stimulated him. apparently.
I need ALL the ACD canon fics you guys – it’s wonderful to read
I’m on mobile, but my personal favorites are:
The Steamer Trunk case files by @tiger-in-the-flightdeck

(Particularly Brief Interlude Before the Storm)
And
The Truth of the Musgrave ritual by @mydwynter

So while reading the ACD canon, I found a few quotes which caught my attention.
John:
‘He always apologized to me for putting me to this inconvenience.’’..he usually terminated [his violin solos] by playing in quick succession a whole series of my favourite airs as a slight compensation..’
Sherlock:
“.. if I show you too much of my method of working, you will come to the conclusion that I am a very ordinary individual after all.”
John: “I shall never do that.”Sherlock: “But I weary you with my hobby.”
John: “ Not at all.”This shows how much Sherlock feared that John would end up disliking him. He always took care not to offend him, and to apologize again and again if he did. John’s replies were always:
“I shall never do that.”
“Not at all.”
Is it any wonder that Sherlock let him into his life? He was surprised each time when John complimented him instead of being weirded out by his eccentric ways. He probably never expected to find anyone who would accept him for who he was. So when John tells him that he would never get tired of the way he made his deductions, Sherlock actually flushes with pleasure.
John:
“My companion flushed up with pleasure at my words, and the earnest way in which I uttered them.”This shows how much of a sensitive person Sherlock Holmes was underneath the mask of cold reason. He was never a person who did not care.. In fact, he was a
smol babyperson who cared deeply.
Some day the truth may be told.
The concluding words of “The Adventure of the Colourman” and the last words of the original ACD canon.
Can we please talk about this?
