My friend and I discussing gender representation in Ant-Man
Me: Did two female characters even share a scene?
Friend: And you’re surprised by this?
Me: Surprised, no. Irritated, yes.

replied to your post “Okay I saw ant-man And yeah, I enjoyed myself”that’s how i felt. i had reservations going into it because ant man? really? but it was just really enjoyable and it seemed like it was made by people who were fans of the mcu. i was pleased all around by it 🙂
Couple little things, but of course that’s anything. Hubby started to get up after the first bonus scene and I just sorta snapped “Sit” at him. Then apologized and said there was one more.
I agree. Didn’t like spoilers
the romantic thing they did. I felt like they could have left that out–mostly because it just wasn’t necessary to the rest of the plot. Since I knew that there were two credits scenes, I took a potty break during the boring credits. Loved Luis and loved the music elements, kinda had a GOTG feel to it.Yeah I did like the ‘sidekicks’. I find myself looking for characters that are POCs, I don’t know if I’m just weird or what, but it’s just something I’m really aware of. And apparently there are no women other than hope working there, and like one black dude and he’s security and I think maybe like two Asian dudes that are scientists?
Or maybe I’m just weird
I also agree with the romance but I did like what they did with Paxton. they didn’t make him out to be just ooh eviiiil new man/stepdad guy. You could understand why he did what he did.
Yes I was totally convinced that they were gonna go hella asshole with Paxton, but they didn’t and I was glad. And I totally agree, there were like four literal women: Peggy, Hope, Mom, and the woman who cleaned Hank’s house. Although, when thinking about it, CA has Peggy, and the USO Ladies and then Nat and Maria, Iron Man has Pepper, Nat, and the other lady who was the ‘botanist’, Thor has Sif, Jane, Darcy, and Frigga.
Ladies are hard to come by, you know. Being as that they’re only 50% of the world’s population.
And, I also thought that Howard kicked the bucket way earlier than ‘88/’89…but maybe I just have no concept of time…
I read somewhere else that Howard died later and that always confused me too. I always felt like he died when Tony
Was younger, but he didn’t.
And yeah. Not even a little bechdel pass. Did two woman even share a scene?
Also, nice “stuffed in the fridge” backstory there for hank. Of course. Gotta fuel that man pain.
