CAROLYN: So what exactly is it your company does, Mr. Alyakhin?

MR. ALYAKHIN: We sell yachts.

CAROLYN: Oh, what sort of yachts?

MR. ALYAKHIN: Massive yachts.

CAROLYN: To whom?

MR. ALYAKHIN: To people who do not have massive yachts – or more often to people who do have massive yachts but who would now like another yacht even more massive. Or newer. Or less sunken.

everyone wants to protect martin because he’s so fragile but consider how hard douglas’ life rly is and how sad he must be

someone protect douglas richardson from the cruelness of life

I worry so much about Douglas

Douglas who can charm his way into anyone’s bed but probably lives alone after Helena left him

Douglas who is good at anything he tries to do but has no discernable hobby he regularly does

Douglas who is an amazing pilot but is still working at MJN as an FO in his mid-fifties because no other company will hire him

Douglas who despite his whole smooth, suave “not caring” attitude has a whole boatload of insecurities that come rising to the surface

If MJN goes down what will happen to Douglas?? Who will hire him? Who will be his surrogate family? Who will make him feel useful and needed??

*hugs Douglas fiercely*

fredthrusday:

no but can we talk about the fact that martin didn’t tell helena douglas was his first officer

martin everyone-who’s-ever-met-you-knows-you’re-the-captain crieff

insecure, petulant, finicky martin crieff who doesn’t let douglas get away with anything finds out that douglas has been telling his wife that he is the supreme commander, that martin is his second in command, that this man whose crowning achievement in life and only real source of pride and dignity is becoming an airline captain is not in fact the captain

and martin doesn’t correct him

why?

because he knows douglas doesn’t want him to
