My favorite thing about the Doctor’s past faces showing up on monitors in new episodes is the implication that literally everywhere he goes he is being recorded from various highly cinematic angles at all times, and somewhere there exists a database storing all of this footage for use by the series’ villains in order to aid their dramatic speeches when they confront him.
