I’ve been rping with darkestelemental616 and playing Jack awoke some of my old feels. So this Jack/Ten was born of that.

May I Have This Dance? – After the Year that Never Was, Jack and the Doctor take comfort in one another.

The Tardis hung in the vortex, stepping out of time to let those on board her rest. Martha tended mostly to her family, a bit to Jack and the Doctor, but they both waved her away pretty quickly. Jack knew that physically he was fine; his body’s capacity to heal not dimmed by the horrors of the past year. The year that now never was.

Jack wandered the Tardis a lot. He couldn’t seem to find his old room, and sadly, he assumed the Doctor had gotten rid of it. The Tardis gave him a new space, but it was too quiet and empty, and he never seemed to need much sleep, less so now, with the still-fresh nightmares.

So he was unsurprised late one night when he turned a corner and found himself in a workshop, the Doctor working over some little thing. He was more surprised by the big band music playing quietly in the background. “What do you want, Jack?” asked the Doctor, not looking up.

“Need any help?” he asked, coming around the workstation.

The Doctor glanced at him. “Hold this wire.”

Jack did so, unfamiliar with whatever device he was working with. It reminded him of his time with his doctor, the last one, working on the Tardis console or whatever little projects the Doctor would toss his way. But that man was gone now, and he’d seen what sort of man this one was. The bravery and the heart and the absolute faith in humanity wasn’t dimmed by changing the outside. Timelords, like humans, were bigger on the inside.

I wrote a second fic to go with the jack/nine smut I wrote the other day. Looks like this might be a series. I named it “Weaving Stardust”:

This one is Rose/Jack/Nine, and a sequel to the first one.

A Braid Takes Three:If the sexual tension was any thicker, Rose is certain she could cut it with a knife. So she does something about it.

Rose watched as Jack and the Doctor worked together on the Tardis. She’d hoped encouraging Jack to sleep with the Doctor would ease things between them, but they were as tense as ever. She couldn’t help but notice how Jack was careful not to touch the Doctor, as if afraid that if he did the wrong thing he’d be thrown out the door.

The Doctor, of course, was oblivious, or else just didn’t see how much Jack was hurting. He still hadn’t made any proper moves on her either, though she’d seen the look in his eyes. If something wasn’t done soon, the unresolved sexual tension might just make the Tardis dump the three of them on an uninhabited moon until they figured it out.

Well, Rose Tyler could be flexible when it came to dancing too. She hopped off the railing, grabbed the Doctors ankle and tugged him out from underneath the console. “What is it, Rose, I’m in the middle of calibrating the…” Rose shut him up with a kiss. There was a clang as Jack dropped a tool, but Rose didn’t stop kissing the Doctor until he’d wrapped a hand in her hair and started kissing her back.

They broke the kiss and the Doctor stared at her face for a long moment before leaning in and kissing her again, stealing her breath. Rose had just enough wits about her that when Jack started to leave she reached out and grabbed him, pulling him back down as she tugged away from the Doctor.

Apparently I’m in a mood, so I wrote some angsty Jack/Nine. It’s smut, but yeah, angsty smut.

Hands Entwined

“Why don’t I get some of that?”

“Buy me a drink first.”

**

The Doctor looked up, scowling slightly as Jack Harkness set a drink in front of him.

“What’s this?”

“Not sure. I think maybe the local equivalent of a banana daiquiri.” Jack slid into the seat across from him, watching the Doctor eye the drink warily.

Jack gave him a smile. “I didn’t spike it or anything, if that’s what you’re worried about.” He was a bit a nervous, and no doubt the Doctor was picking up on that. But it wasn’t every day that he tried to seduce a Timelord.

The Doctor sighed and sipped the drink. “I know what you’re on about, Jack. Rose…”

“Is perfectly okay with this,” Jack cut him off. “Said she was going to do a bit of shopping, maybe a pedicure, meet us back at the Tardis. If she needs anything she’ll call.”

“You talked to her, about this?”

“Hey, you told her I’m a fifty-first century guy. We get along quite well while you’re off puttering in some dark corner pretending you don’t look at her with anything other than friendship. She knows how you feel, even if you won’t act on it. In fact, she encouraged me to do this. Or maybe just told me it was my funeral. Can’t quite remember, now.”

Leaning across the table, the Doctor’s eyes turned dark. “You know nothing about how I feel.”

Jack leaned forward, meeting his gaze, smile never leaving his face. “I know what it’s like to want someone, Doc. You keep me at arm’s length too. So this doesn’t have to mean anything else.”

“It wouldn’t mean anything at all.”

Jack’s heart skipped. But if that was all he’d get, he’d take it. He silently cursed himself. Of course he had to fall in love with the impossible ones. He leaned back again, crossing his arms. “We don’t even have to go back to the Tardis.”

The Doctor muttered something about stupid apes as he fiddled with the straw in his drink. Jack started wishing he’d bought himself one. “Fine,” he said at last. “But we’ll go to the Tardis.”
