Everything movies taught me about archery is wrong. This is a complete mind-blower. 8D
If you are even remotely interested in archery or medieval combat, check this out, it’s just great!
My mind is blown.

Words cannot describe how much I love this story.
I’m so very very glad for your help and that you love it that much!
As I’m working on this fic, I’ve been thinking about Jack’s wrist strap. We all know what the dash of the thing looks like:
Not a single visual display in sight. So how does Jack know what he’s doing or read information from it, since it clearly has so many different functions?
I wonder if there’s a mental component with vortex manipulators. Maybe a synced user can get information uploaded directly to their brain. Users who aren’t synced (Clara, Martha, etc.) can only use it for base functions.
Or maybe that glowing blue square light is a HUD, beaming visual information onto Jack’s eyeballs like Google Glass.
I’ve wondered that myself. And hell for that matter it’s only got 3 buttons. How does it do all the things? And if it is a mental + physical link, how does Gray hack John’s? I’ve got a headanon that Jack would have had at least some pyschic training, 51st century and all that. I think that’s why Tosh can’t read his mind in Greeks bearing Gifts and why he knows what she’s up to.
Obviously John and Jack were part of the Time Agency and went through probably some rigorous training. We know nothing about that organization aside from it was shut down and Jack’s missing a year of his life or so. Judging off Jack and John’s personalities I doubt it was an agency dedicated to goodness and light.
Clearly they wouldn’t hand a device that allows time travel to any idiot off the street (the Doctor had to steal his). So no matter how much the doctor may disparage the manipulator as a crappy way to travel, at least Jack earned his.
John Hart cocked his head as Jack groaned and rolled to his his knees, rubbing the back of his neck where it was just finishing stitching together.
“You know, I think your head looks better detached from your body. Symmetry,” he said.
“You’re saying my head’s too big for the rest of me. Did you get it?”
“The giant crab thing that took off your head? Yes.” He pointed at where the aforementioned creature was lying with John’s sword sticking out of it’s chest.
“Good. Let’s get out of here.” Jack got to his feet with a bit of help from John. “Next time move faster.”
“Why? You were providing the perfect distraction. Though I must admit that was a pretty impressive feat.”
“You should try it sometime,” growled Jack.
John chuckled and retrieved his sword, collecting what they’d come to get and following Jack.
“Come on Cas, we both deserve a break.” Jack bumped his shoulder against the angel’s. Castiel frowned at the paper he was studying.
“This potentially could be a major threat.”
“There are always potential major threats. Let Sam and Dean take care of this one. All you have to do is say ‘yes’.”
Cas eyed him and set the paper down.
“Jack…”
Before he could give another argument, Jack slid a hand underneath Cas’s coat and tickled him under his ribs.
With an undignified squeak Castiel tried to jerk away. Grinning, Jack went for the other side, pinning him against the counter
After a bit of giggling, Jack suddenly got a fateful of wing, sending him stumbling back with a wide smile.
“Fine,” said Castiel, rolling his eyes.
“Good.” Jack turned away, only to realize angels were very good at finding ticklish spots.
A few rooms away Dean was decidedly not blushing as he turned up his headphones to drown out the laughing and giggling.
