Lilo, why are you all wet?
This is actually heartbreaking when you remember Lilo tells Stitch her parents went for a drive, and the bad weather caused them to crash.
I always thought this scene was adorable
Wow thanks guy
Right in the childhood.
i never made that connection
WOW
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
YOU RUINED MY FAVOURITE PART OF THE MOVIE
I get the feeling the adults knew…
and now I’m wondering how in the hell Lilo came to the conclusion that there’s a peanut butter loving fish god who demands tribute or else he’ll murder your family.
When massive trauma hits, some people try to find any way to make sense of what seems senseless. Find any semblance of control, of responsibility.
Lilo may be blaming herself (unfairly) for her parents’ death. This was the only connection she could make, the only thing she could have had any control over, so to her it must have been her fault. If only she was a good girl. If only she did the right thing. Then maybe…
It’s very very hard to lose a mindset like that even when it’s the most irrational thing, even when it hurts you, because then you’re left with nothing.
And when you’re six your pattern recognition skills are a work in progress. Lilo sees that type of fish one day and as it swims away it starts to rain; connection made.
“Lilo may be blaming herself (unfairly) for her parents’ death. This was the only connection she could make, the only thing she could have had any control over, so to her it must have been her fault. If only she was a good girl. If only she did the right thing. Then maybe… “
This movie had some of the best scenes cut out of it.
This is one of my favourite movies yet somehow I never saw this deleted scene…. Excuse me a second…
*The distant sound of full on ugly crying*
“Lilo and Stitch” 2002
Deleted Scene
Lilo plays a trick on the tourists.
IF YOU LIVED HERE YOU’D UNDERSTAND
I desperately need to understand
WHY
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY
Was this scene cut from the movie??!!
Fucking christ, do you know what this would have done? What this would have meant to SO MANY people?? The truth of this is devastating. And to think it almost found it’s way into a DISNEY film??
The inclusion of this scene alone would have made it the greatest animated feature the company ever produced. Easily. And if you think that’s hyperbolic clearly you don’t understand.
No, really, if anyone knows why this was cut PLEASE let me know.
oh man WHY WOULD they cut this, this is so great, holy MOLY
It was clearly something the crew was very reluctant to get rid of if it made it all the way to rough-clean (and in a few scenes clean!), fully inbetweened animation. That is like, thousands and thousands of dollars and weeks (months?!) of labour. Maybe a reluctant producer decided they would alienate their white middle-class American audiences by making them feel “too guilty” and pressed them to drop it? It’s unfortunate, it’s one of the most honest accounts of racism in a Disney movie (which is why it’s believable that someone got uncomfortable and made a case to get it chopped)
Designing entertainment by committee for maximum marketability is probably the most heartbreaking process in Hollywood.
I’ve been seeing this around my dash and think it deserves some more recognition!
This shit is hilarious, too.
NO WAIT SHIT
I GET IT NOW
I GET WHY SHE WAS PHOTOGRAPHING TOURISTS AS A HOBBY
SHE WAS BEING FUCKING SATIRICAL AND OBJECTIFYING
IT’S NOT BECAUSE SHE’S A DUMB KID WITH A WEIRD HOBBY IT’S BECAUSE THEY DO THAT TO HER AND HER FRIENDS AND FAMILY LIKE SHE’S SOME KIND OF FUCKING THEME PARK CHARACTER AND SHE WANTS THEM TO KNOW HOW IT FEELS
HOLY FUCKING DICKS DISNEY WHY WOULD YOU CUT THIS
aaaa it makes me sooo angry that they cut this scene ; _ ;
Ok so the more I think about it the more I think this scene could have fit in the movie very well. Beyond the obvious indictment of stupid tourists visiting Hawaii.
I was noticing the other day when I rewatched the movie, in the opening Stitch bites Gantu and he asks a fellow alien on the bridge “Does this look infected to you?” It’s a small moment that is later paralleled with Lilo! When she gets in the fight with those girls she bites Myrtle. When they leave class you can hear Myrtle asking her friends “Does this look infected to you?”
I feel like the movie was trying to make it clear that both Lilo and Stitch were outcasts in their home societies. They didn’t fit for various reasons. And this deleted scene could have highlighted another parallel, their very wicked and mischievous sensibility. Stitch is clearly a prankster and Lilo apparently could have been one too.
I think they must have eventually put this particular facet aside because we have that scene in Nani’s restaurant where Lilo has a diagram showing Stitch’s badness level.
I don’t know why this scene got cut. This movie went through seriously wild changes in its story(Did you know originally Stitch was going to be an intelligent space gangster and Jumba was a former henchmen out for revenge?)
But this scene does change how I view Lilo’s personality and perhaps they were backing away from making her anything other than sweet and deeply quirky. Idk I was just thinking about the parallels and then I saw this and went ‘huh’
