So I just feel like sharing this story, feel free to skip it, just something about me, and high school and writing, and where I am now.

Okay, so I graduated High School in 1997 (this is important later). My senior year I was going to take more classes that *I* wanted to take, but got convinced to stick with the ‘college prep’ track (even though I wasn’t really planning on going to college right away).

Anyway one of the classes I did manage to take was a drama class. I loved it. I’d tried to take a community acting class once before, but it had gotten canceled due to not enough people. And I’d never managed to get a role in a school play.

But at least the Drama class had to let me try. And we also went and saw a play. Well I got inspired to write something, and even though I’d never tried writing a play I took a crack at writing a one-act and showed it to my drama teacher.

Thank God I went to school before Columbine. Because my one-act was about someone about to go shoot up a classroom. My teacher was understandably concerned, but once I explained to her I wasn’t planning on anything I just understood what could put a kid there, she was fine with it.

And she loaned me a book on screen/playwriting.

I didn’t get the book finished by the end of the school year, so when I went to give it back to her I said I’d have to buy it.

She grabbed my hand and said I was talented enough I didn’t need any book.

That was the second time in my life a teacher had looked at my writing and called me talented.

Well, obviously things happened and that was nearly 20 years ago. The point of this story though is that looking at the material for this screenwriting course I’m starting Wednesday feels kinda like coming home. It feels comfortable and right, even if I’m a bit nervous about it.

So yeah, maybe it took 17 years to come back around to here. But better late then never. And I think I’m going to be okay.

(Also encouraging teachers are amazing.)

1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I haven’t traveled all that much. But I’d probably go back to the Pacific Northwest if I could live anywhere.

2. One food you hated as a kid that you really like now.

Um. Sweet potatoes? Still not my favorite, but I’d refuse to eat it at all as a kid

3. Member of which fandom(s)?

Oh geeze, well, I’ll probably miss something here, but: Sherlock, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Supernatural (a little), superwood, star trek a bit…

4. Preferred genre of music?

Depends on my mood. I probably go more pop though.

5. Have you ever written fan fiction? Do you post it for others to see?

HAHAAHHAHA. I mean, uh yeah. A…..couple things…. it’s here.

6. Accomplishment you are proudest of?

Graduating boot camp, probably. Or self-publishing my own book.

7. Why did you join Tumblr?

I actually started off with UFYH, but I really got into it with Doctor Who and probably awabubbles and then jazzforthecaptain.

8. What languages to you speak?

English. And a teensy bit of Spanish (I read better then I speak it)

9. If you could choose to be really good at something (that you aren’t good at now), what would it be? Why?

10. Most interesting cross-fandom ship?

My favorite cross fandom ship is probably Harkstiel. Or you know, superwood.

11. If you could have dinner tonight at any kind of restaurant, what would you choose?

Hmmmm. I just did a bunch of cooking out a French cookbook, so maybe french?

I know I haven’t been writing much. Full time work and full time school and no time to write at work anymore (they changed my position, over my protests). But I promise I haven’t gone away or anything, I just need to find some time somewhere. But if there isn’t much new stuff, that’s why.

I think I tend to come out either enfj or enfp, this time I came out with the P, and yeah, this is pretty accureate:

ENFPs like to change things for the better, and have contagious enthusiasm, but no patience for crossing I’s and dotting T’s. They are good at anticipating others’ needs, but crave attention and recognition.

Obviously I cut that list down. Mostly to people I know. Interesting that I’m apparently Pinkie Pie and Anakin Skywalker. Lol. I guess that’s the good side and the dark side right there. Also possibly Starfleet Captain material.

More random stuff about me and my life here

One of the things I’ve struggled with forever is money. It’s been paycheck to paycheck pretty much my whole adult life. I’ve tried various methods, but nothing ever stuck for long. I’d tried YouNeedABudget (ynab) before and liked it, but couldn’t stick with it.

Well, again, meds, I started using the YNAB software again last month. This month I ended the month with money in the bank. It’s budgeted places, but there’s money in the bank. There wasn’t any scrambling to find 5 bucks to put in the tank 3 days before payday.

I’m still not perfect about things. And I’m still trying to train hubby to look at the ynab app instead of the bank account, but it’s better!
