Most importantly, I forged an identity that reflected the arc of my lived experiences thus far; from being that pre-teen boy watching Star Wars for the first time to creating stories that would entertain current and future generations. I was Trollando; actor, writer, producer, troll, fan.
I like the slash, and I think I like it because I feel there are so many people who are under-represented—or not represented at all—in mainstream Hollywood entertainment. I really enjoy the fan fiction that embraces character and themes that showcase those people—their love, their desires, their passions. I think that’s really cool—and I hope the show as it continues embraces that more, because that’s an opportunity to tell stories that other people might not be familiar with. I mean, there’s slash of me and Ichabod… that’s like, ‘What?!’ and then I read it and it was really well-written. I get it—it’s another way to go but it’s no less valid than what we’re doing and it’s certainly interesting, so I really get a kick out of that. To read fan fiction and to see fan art and to watch other people’s artistry paint different colors on top of what we’re doing… how can you be mad at that? That’s just completely awesome!
Benedict Cumberbatch and Orlando Jones Have Expressed Varying Levels of Comfort With Slash
Orlando Jones, you sweet prince.

But does it matter that two middle-aged men with very large platforms were sitting at a table pathologising teenage girls’ sexuality – and making a whole load of potentially harmful assumptions about a topic they know literally nothing about? Absolutely.

Finally, a mainstream media article that presents the human side of fandom, and talks about why it’s important to have alternative forms of media.
I fangirl this woman so hard right now.

The Supernatural fandom has lost one of their greatest treasures due to anon hate. This sort of thing has GOT TO STOP. If you don’t have anything constructive, supportive and loving to say… or you have to hide behind and Anon to say it… DON’T.
Oh, this is heartbreaking!!! I was just looking through euclases’ work last week! Not only has the Supernatural fandom lost a brilliant, intuitive artist, but every fandom and the art community as a whole!
I mean, LOOK:
This is completely infuriating and inexcusable and the results are so tragic!!! If someone has the courage and maturity to say something as themselves and be accountable for their words, rather than hiding behind anon, fine. Otherwise, keep it to yourselves and let the rest of us be happy!
This (along with art theft) is precisely why I’ve disabled anon qs and never post my own artwork. Artists of every discipline should be feel safe enough to share their work without this kind of abuse and hatred! Please, please, please just STOP THIS!!!
The fucking jealousy game ridiculous .
It’s all jealousy. All of it. Work fucking hard, get fucking good, and quit hating on people who have busted their fucking ass.
When even Orlando fucking Jones is commenting on this anon hate thing and driving Euclase away…
