sometimes i worry how quickly it seems to be fading from public consciousness that the american people didn’t actually choose donald trump

he lost the popular vote

HE LOST THE POPULAR VOTE

by kind of a lot

it still matters that all those people out there DID vote for them, it still matters that our electoral system is so fucked and so undemocratic as to elect him anyways, but i feel it’s really important we remember that the majority of americans chose hilary clinton and not donald trump

for a lot of reasons, we need to not let it fade out of public top-of-mind knowledge that donald trump was not the choice of the american people

HE LOST THE POPULAR VOTE!

A reminder, the president did not merely call himself a nationalist. He posited himself a nationalist as opposed to a globalist, which is a well worn antisemitic canard. In context, nationalism here is not a love for country, it is a statement of white ethnonationalism

COME ON NA OBAMA! 👏🏾

He ain’t wearing a jacket no more and he got his sleeves rolled up. My nigga is over it.

Please start doing more speeches! If that orange arangatang can get up on a podium and lie and goad his stupid followers into committing hate crimes then we need our hope and inspiration back, speak to us!

We are straight up in the motherfucking Titanic and we know how the story ends… but no one in the cabin wants to slow the ship down…

After those threats, Obama is done playing nice.

The particulars of Trump’s rhetoric may vary — sometimes he’ll blame the media, sometimes he’ll blame the Democrats, sometimes he’ll advocate one or another conspiracy theory — but he will never look inward and never sincerely ask Americans to seek out their better selves.

Every bit of this was predictable from the moment we realized that the bomb sent to George Soros’s home was not an isolated incident. Of course this was where he would end up. There is literally no imaginable situation in which Trump would act as a president of all Americans, no crisis in which he would be a force for calm, no event that he would not seek to turn into an attack on those he believes are his enemies, no moment where he would not act in the most petty and reprehensible way possible. That’s who he is, who he has always been, and who he will always be.
