As I’m working on this fic, I’ve been thinking about Jack’s wrist strap. We all know what the dash of the thing looks like:
Not a single visual display in sight. So how does Jack know what he’s doing or read information from it, since it clearly has so many different…
problem: in The Day of the Doctor clara uses jack’s vortex manipulator (donated to the archives on the occasion o one of his deaths) to release the doctor from his cell in the past. she operates it off a code that the doctor sent her by carving it in the wall and, as much as she might be the impossible girl, at this stage she is nothing more (or less) than a 21st century human
bare in mind that moffat wrote the day of the doctor and russel t wrote torchwood so continuity errors are completely acceptable and quite a common occurence on doctor who. I suppose we may disregard this point entirely but i’m a bit of a perfectionist so i like to take everything into account.
Well even if it’s primary got a mental link, I’m sure there’s a manual mode as well. I feel the same way about the sonic screwdriver, though maybe that’s a little more usable by people who haven’t been trained. All we see Martha do with it is transport. Clara transports and does like, one other thing. But for Jack to say, chase life signs with it, that requires a bit more training and knowledge.
My theory anyway.
